Long before Haile Plantation had neighborhoods, the award-winning New Urbanism community was part of Kanapaha, a Sea Island cotton plantation founded by South Carolina transplant Thomas Evans Haile in 1854.
Situated approximately 8 miles southwest of UF Health Shands Hospital and the University of Florida, the community of Haile Plantation in Gainesville, Florida was developed in 1978 by The Fleeman Family, Matthew Kaskel, and Robert B. Kramer.
There are several dozen Haile Plantation neighborhoods which comprise the whole of Gainesville’s Haile Plantation community.
Haile Plantation neighborhoods are governed by separate homeowner associations: Haile Plantation Association, Haile Plantation West Association, Haile Market Square Owners Association, and Haile Village Center Owners Association. Each neighborhood within Haile Plantation is governed by one of these homeowner associations.
