University of Florida Gymnastics team draws records crowd to O’Connell Center for Link to Pink
More than 9,000 people packed University of Florida’s Stephen C. O’Connell Center on Friday night, January 29, to support the Gators gymnastics team against Louisiana State University.
It was the third largest crowd ever to pack the center for a gymnastics event, and fourth-ranked University of Florida fed off of the energy, prevailing over Louisiana State University with a score of 196.725-195.050.
This was the team’s fourth annual Link to Pink event, which supports breast cancer awareness and research. The evening kicked off with a breast cancer survivor sharing her story with the crowd. Several dozen women, cancer survivors all, formed a welcome tunnel to cheer the Gator gymnasts into the arena.
It was an energetic, uplifting night, and I can’t wait to go to the next meet!
