Electrical switches allow us to use electrical power responsibly and efficiently; however, in order for them to work properly, a Breaker Box upgrade needs to be done every few years, specially if you start noticing that appliances and electronics are not lasting as long as they should.. We use outlets to plugin and use many household appliances. Switches connect wire and power. Switches control single and multiple outlets, lights, appliances, and other electrical devices. The switches have a stationary plate and a moving plate. A stationary switch has a spring that causes it to shut on and off at the click of the finger. Switches use a commutator to function. A commutator is a copper core that makes the connections. The commutator is a very thin wire that runs through the switch. Two plates attached to the commutator help break the connection, so the circuit completes the circuit. The commutator is used to run two circuits, it is inserted before each circuit.

A coil goes inside the commutator and ties the two metals together. There are three ways to turn the circuit : a slide switch, a rocker switch, and a push-button switch. Slide switches resemble a letter o and have a lever to slide. Rocker switches look like a wave . Push button switches look like two circles connected, only one is attached to the shaft.
